Washington and Hershey

Before arriving in Washington DC we finally made it to a Five Guys burger joint. And we were not disappointed! One of the best burgers so far.

Washington was a really nice city to visit and walk through. Plenty of sights in close vicinity, the public transport is easy and efficient. Our hotel was only three metro stops away from downtown. One of the first places we chose to check out was the Arlington cemetery, as our hotel was located very close by. The weather was great so we got to take some nice shots.

More Kennedy sites besides the main one for JFK.

A nice view of the Pentagon.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Luckily I was able to film the changing of the guard, which in winter happens only once an hour instead of every 30 minutes. Some background on the guard and the tomb - click.

I embedded a different video, as I didn't film from the very start.

The Lincoln Memorial.

The White House.

The Capitol.

We stopped at Hill Country for some BBQ :)

Another day we went to the Smithsonian museums and on the way we walked past a whole heap of food trucks. Naturally we had to get lunch there :)

The Air and Space Museum. It was very cool and we spent quite a bit of time exploring the exhibit and shows. Below is a replica of the Hubble telescope.

Skylab

Model of a V2 rocket.

At the end of the day we went to Ben's Chili Bowl for a famous Chili Dog!

The Museum of Natural History

I was intrigued by the grasshoppers on the menu, and also the fact that they are vegetarian??? Unfortunately this Mexican Restaurant will stay in Simone's memory for all the wrong reasons :( Shouldn't have had the lamb taco.

Cafe Mozart in the evening after another day at the museums.

Heaps of walking, a lot of sights and museums later and we moved on the Hershey, yes that Hershey. Of course we had to stop at the chocolate world. If we had gone a month earlier the roller coaster park would have been still open, but you win some you lose some.
